Our fine leather belts are handcrafted from full-grain leather and are custom-made to order.
Choosing the best leather belts for men starts with the leather itself. There are many different grades or qualities of leather. Lesser leathers are more processed, having the top layer of hide removed by methods like sanding, scraping, or shaving. These methods make leathers thinner and removes the top layer that develops a full patina.
The only choice of leather for a quality men’s belt is full-grain leather. Full grain leather needs the least amount of processing before it can be tanned. This leaves the top layer of leather fully intact, leading to leather with more integrity and durability, not to mention beauty.
Next, you want to consider craftmanship. Roger Ximenez has studied with masters of the leather craft worldwide and brought his years of experience to his US home studio. Choose colors and tones that match your color tone. Everyone, no matter their skin color, has either cool, warm, or neutral undertones to their skin. If you can see your veins through the skin of your wrists, check for color. Green indicates a warm tone, and blue indicates a cool tone. If you can’t tell, you may be neutral. Another way to check your skin tone is to look at your wardrobe and accessories. You are likely naturally drawn to your complementary tones; if your closet is full of black, crisp whites, and jewel colors, and you wear primarily silver tones, you’re likely cool-toned. If you lean towards browns, creams, and either earthy or pastel tones, then you’re likely warm. If you look good in it all, you’re likely neutral, which can wear most tones.
It's much easier to play with texture, patterns, and colors if you’re working in a color palette that is naturally complimentary to your skin undertones.
Consider the occasion and choose what makes you feel confident and attractive. Try to match the tone of the event or occasion. If you’re dressing for the office, what is the atmosphere like? What do the senior employees wear? If most people are dressed in formal professional, stick with formal dress belt colors like black, gray, and brown. But jazz it up with dressy mock alligator leather.
If you’re attending a dressy but more relaxed event, consider a playful color or pattern that complements your whole ensemble or could even act like a statement piece.
There are two ways to figure out your belt size. The first way is the quickest, easiest, but least accurate. However, since it’s so simple, it is the general recommended method that you’ll find in most belt shopping guides. Here it is:
Pick your most comfortably fitting pair of pants.
Find the waist size of these pants; it’s the first number on men’s pant sizes. So a 38x30 is a 38 waist size.
Add two to your waist size to get your belt size. It’s a standard rule of thumb to go one size over your pants size for your belt size.
If you’re looking for the most accurate size, you’ll need a soft measuring tape, like used in sewing. Or, you can print off a measuring tape. Download a printable tape measure if you don’t have a cloth measuring tape. These are simple to use; print out the tape measure, cut out the segments, and tape them together. Next, put on the pants you’ll wear with the belt you’re purchasing. Thread the measuring tape through the belt loops and look at your measurement. Here’s how to get your belt size:
If you measured an even number, add two to get your belt size.
If you measured an odd number, add three to get your belt size.
A properly fitted belt is comfortable when using the middle hole of your belt strap.
Here at Roger Ximenez, you can customize your belt your way!
